Nature in Urban Areas

Nature in Urban Areas In-Person

Join Allison Sumner at the Greenfield Public Library on Wednesday, October 2 at 2:30pm for a program about nature in urban areas. Allison’s intent is to illustrate that ecosystems exist everywhere and that conservation in cities is incredibly important. She will go over the ways nature can exist in urban areas, how urban areas and ecosystems affect each other, how to create wildlife habitat in your backyard, and how you can contribute to what we know about urban nature through citizen science. The program is intended for people of all backgrounds and ages. No prior knowledge of ecology or the like is required to gain something from it or enjoy it! Free native plant seeds being given out to anyone interested in them!

Allison has always been interested in nature, and more recently, has become interested in educating others about nature. Her main focus is on reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates, but she also has interests in native plants and ecosystems as a whole.
