The History of Hip Hop Music and Dance
The Greenfield Public Library is pleased to welcome Professor Rondae Drafts, Ph. D.abd, on April 8 at 6:30 pm in the Community Meeting Room for a program on the History of Hip Hop Music and Dance.
Hip Hop as a culture has influenced the world. According to Land and Stovall (2009) hip hop began in the late 1970s, and is a billion dollar, international industry which involves music,
clothing, break dancing, electronics, media, and DJs. The culture has become a way of life for many young people. This program will focus on the roots of dance and music from Hip Hop
culture. It will be educational, entertaining, and will ask everyone to critically examine youth popular culture.
For more information, contact Lisa Prolman at librarian@greenfieldpubliclibrary.org, or call (413) 772-1544.
This free program is funded by a grant from the Greenfield Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
