Local Author Talk with Mattea Kramer In-Person
The Greenfield Public Library welcomes local author Mattea Kramer for a talk on her novel The Untended in the Community Meeting Room at 6:30pm in the Community Meeting Room.
Mattea Kramer has been an independent writer since 2014, during which time she has been a regular contributor to the syndicated political site TomDispatch, which publishes a range of thinkers and experts on American empire. Mattea was previously a recipient of a Carnegie-Knight News21 journalism fellowship from Harvard’s Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics, and Public Policy, and since 2017, Mattea has been writing about drugs in America. Her first novel, The Untended, which tells an intimate story of addiction in small-town New England, was published in 2025. Mattea was born and raised in Greenfield, Massachusetts.
Clarion Reviews says: “In the moving novel The Untended, a community's grit, hardiness, and sense of unity become apparent, even as its citizens struggle with addiction.” with Kirkus calling The Untended “A lucid critique of American individualism.”
This program, sponsored by the Friends of the Greenfield Public Library, is free and open to the public.
