Musician Biopic Film Fest -- Respect In-Person
After our July program about Bob Dylan and The Band, GPL is hosting a festival of musician biopic films! Come beat the heat in our Community Meeting Room and enjoy a movie!
- August 4, 6pm, A Complete Unknown: Follow a folk icon as he becomes a cultural phenomenon, eventually starting a band and moving away from the music community who first took him in. (Rated R)
- August 6, 12pm, Bohemian Rhapsody: This film chronicles the meteoric rise of a rock band and their lead singer from 1970 to their legendary 1985 Live Aid performance. The film explores the band's formation, their musical innovations, and the challenges they faced, (PG-13)
- August 7, 12pm, Respect: Following the rise of the Queen of Soul's career from a child singing in her father's church's choir to her international superstardom, RESPECT is the remarkable true story of the music icon's journey to find her voice. (PG-13)
- August 8, 12pm, Selena: The film tells the story of the life of a Mexican "Tejano" style singer and the progress of her career resulting in her No. 1 US album. (PG)
