35mm Negatives of the 1970’s: Local Author Peter Monroe In-Person
The Greenfield Public Library welcomes local author Peter Monroe with his book 35mm Negatives of the 1970’s on Monday, November 17 at 2:00 pm, in the GPL Conference Room.
The photographs for the book were taken with a medium-level single lens reflex camera given to Peter from his father. With extensive and relevant text accompanying each image, 35mm Negatives of the 1970’s reads like a memoir while tying the decade together, highlighting the style of clothes, cars and the quality of the light. Some of the author’s photographs have been seen or reviewed in various publications over the years, including American Photography,The Village Voice, and Harper’s.
Peter Monroe, born in White Plains, New York, grew up in the borough of Queens, NY, and currently resides in a “provincial down and out former mill town” in The Connecticut River Valley of Massachusetts.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase.
