Soil Health Testing Workshop In-Person
Healthy soil supports healthy plants and healthy ecosystems, but knowing how to measure soil health can feel complicated. In this workshop, we’ll introduce the UMass Soil Health Test Kit, a simple, hands-on toolkit for farmers, gardeners, and land managers. Participants will see demonstrations of quick field tests, including measurements of soil structure, compaction, water infiltration, and biological activity. We will discuss how to interpret the results. After the demonstration, the kit will be permanently housed at the Greenfield Public Library lending library. Anyone with a library card can check out the items! The goal is to provide practical tools and insights that can help you better understand your soil and guide management decisions. The workshop is open to all experience levels. This workshop is led by Dr. Artie Siller,UMass Extension Soil Health Educator.
Registration is required and limited to 12 participants.
